Finding We

In Search of a More Perfect Union

A memoir about service, ambition, family, and the search for common ground in an increasingly divided America.

About the Book

What happens when a lifelong calling to serve collides with the institutions you trusted?

Finding We is a memoir about service, ambition, family, failure, resilience, and one man’s search for common ground in an increasingly divided America.

From West Point and the U.S. Army to entrepreneurship and work with the CIA, Philip Verges spent much of his life pursuing a deeply held calling to serve. But when the institutions he trusted turned against him, that calling—and nearly everything else in his life—was put to the test.

Finding We asks a larger question: How do we rediscover what unites us when so much seems determined to divide us?

About the Author

Philip Verges has spent a lifetime at the intersection of service, entrepreneurship, and public life.

A graduate of West Point and former U.S. Army officer, he went on to build an international technology company and later worked with the CIA on matters involving U.S. national security.

His experiences took him from military service and entrepreneurship to the complicated intersection of business, government, family, ambition, success, and failure.

Finding We is his first book—and an attempt to make sense not only of his own journey, but of what our increasingly divided country might still have in common.

A Life Behind the Story

Finding We grew out of a lifetime of service, ambition, family, love, loss, and the people who made the journey worthwhile.
